IZ*ONE, A Comprehensive Overview

IZ*ONE was a South Korean–Japanese girl group formed 

through the Mnet reality competition show Produce 48 in 2018. 


The group consisted of twelve members: 

Jang Won-young, Sakura Miyawaki, Jo Yu-ri, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, 

Nako Yabuki, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Hitomi Honda, 

Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon. 


Managed by Off the Record and Swing Entertainment, 

IZ*ONE debuted on October 29, 2018, 

and officially disbanded on April 29, 2021.



1. Debut and Early Achievements


IZONE made their official debut on October 29, 2018, 

with the extended play COLORIZ. 


The EP achieved significant commercial success, 

selling over 225,000 units and peaking at number two 

on the South Korean Gaon Album Chart. 


The lead single, La Vie en Rose, also garnered international attention, 

charting on Billboard's World Albums and World Digital Songs.



2. Discography and Notable Releases


BLOOM*IZ


Released on February 17, 2020, 

BLOOM*IZ is IZ*ONE's first full-length album. 


The album set a record by selling over 356,313 copies in its first week, 

the highest for a girl group at that time. 


The title track, FIESTA, received widespread acclaim 

and contributed to the album's success.



Oneiric Diary


On June 15, 2020, IZ*ONE released their third EP, Oneiric Diary

featuring the lead single Secret Story of the Swan


The album surpassed 510,000 copies in sales, 

earning a double platinum certification 

from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA).



Japanese Releases


IZ*ONE also made a significant impact in Japan. 


Their Japanese debut single, Suki to Iwasetai

was released on February 6, 2019, and peaked at number two 

on both the Oricon Singles Chart and Billboard Japan Hot 100, 

selling over 200,000 copies in its first week.



3. Disbandment and Post-Group Activities


Despite discussions about a possible contract extension, 

IZ*ONE disbanded as scheduled on April 29, 2021. 


Following the disbandment, 

members pursued various individual endeavors.


  • An Yu-jin and Jang Won-young

    returned to Starship Entertainment and debuted

    as members of the girl group IVE in December 2021.


  • Sakura Miyawaki and Kim Chae-won

    joined HYBE Corporation and debuted with the girl group

    LE SSERAFIM
    in May 2022.


  • Kwon Eun-bi

    embarked on a solo career,

    releasing her first mini-album, OPEN, on August 24, 2021.


  • Lee Chae-yeon

    also pursued solo activities, releasing her mini-album

    HUSH RUSH
    in October 2022.




4. Recent Developments (As of February 2025)


  • An Yu-jin

    continues to thrive with IVE,

    contributing to their success with multiple chart-topping releases.

    She has also expanded her presence

    in the entertainment industry by hosting variety shows

    and participating in fashion events.


  • Kim Min-ju

    has transitioned into acting, securing leading

    roles in various television dramas and films.


  • Honda Hitomi

    has been the subject of rumors regarding

    her potential debut in a new girl group under

    the agency of Kim Jaejoong.


  • Kang Hye-won

    has ventured into acting and modeling,

    appearing in web dramas and fashion magazines.


  • Jo Yu-ri and Choi Ye-na

    have launched solo music careers,

    releasing singles and mini-albums

    that showcase their individual artistry.


  • Nako Yabuki

    has returned to Japan and resumed activities with HKT48,

    while also exploring opportunities in acting and variety shows.


  • Kwon Eun-bi

    continues her solo music career,

    with recent releases receiving positive feedback

    from fans and critics alike.
